What is the Entry/Exit (EES) system?

From October 2025, the new EU Entry Exit System (EES) will electronically register all non-EU/Schengen travelers at border crossings. This system replaces traditional passport stamps.

Not an EU/Schengen citizen?
When first entering the EU, you'll need to register once at a self-service kiosk in the airport arrivals area. During this registration:

  • Your fingerprints will be scanned
  • A facial image will be taken

EU/Schengen citizen or EU passport holder?
The current entry procedures remain unchanged for you.
