What is the Entry/Exit (EES) system?

From October 2025, the new EU Entry Exit System (EES) will electronically register all travellers from non EU countries/Schengen travellers at border crossings. This will replace passport stamps.

Are you not an EU/Schengen citizen?
Then, when the first time you enter the EU (as a non-EU/Schengen national or non EU passport holder), you’ll need to register at a self-service kiosk in the arrivals area of your destination airport. You’ll also need to provide your fingerprint and facial image.

For EU/Schengen citizens or EU passport holders, nothing will change.
